Intelcom | Dragonfly, signatory of The Climate Pledge

In 2021, we signed the Climate Pledge, joining hundreds of organizations from all around the world that are dedicated to reducing their ecological footprint. Through the Pledge, we’re committed to becoming carbon neutral by 2040. “It’s an ambitious goal,” says Alexandre Bergeron, Vice President, Corporate Development, Intelcom | Dragonfly, “but it’s also an inspiring challenge that will be good for the planet, good for future generations, and good for business.”

Our approach to carbon neutrality

To start, we measured our Scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon emissions to get a clear picture of where we stood. We are currently setting our emission reduction targets based on scientific data. These targets will then be confirmed by the independent Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

We’re working on implementing our decarbonization plan, which focuses on areas as diverse as optimizing delivery routes and encouraging the electrification of our fleet, energy use, waste production, procurement and collaborative efforts with clients and partners. “We’ve left nothing out,” says Bergeron. Moving towards sustainable delivery

We’re working to electrify our delivery fleet to eliminate a significant amount of our emissions on the road and reduce our ecological footprint. Since our independent delivery contractors’ vehicles create 75% of our emissions, it’s the corner stone of our strategy. We currently have over 50 electric vehicles—and that’s just the beginning.

As we move towards greater sustainable delivery practices, we’re also exploring the use of other clean vehicles. And we’re encouraging environmental cleanup efforts within the entire delivery sector by getting involved with the Smart Freight Centre, a non-profit organization fighting for climate action in freight transportation worldwide.

Optimizing routes

Our Route Optimization Sequence is at the heart of our activities and is also good for the environment! This technology is always improving and is used to analyze an impressive amount of data so we can design perfectly optimized parcel delivery routes. Everything is factored in: contractor locations and specs, vehicle type, traffic, weather, and so on.

When sustainability rhymes with efficiency

Our smart route planning avoids unnecessary travel and reduces fuel consumption and carbon emissions. What’s more, parcels arrive on consumers’ doorsteps much faster. It’s a win-win for everyone.
